Drastically Improve The Emotional Intelligence Of “Problematic” Or “Difficult” Leaders In Your Organization

Poor management skills and low self-awareness can lead to toxic behaviors in the workplace that cause low morale, a decrease in productivity, turnover of key talent and costs organizations millions in revenue each year. Even one leader with toxic or “jerk boss” behaviors can become a major liability and detract from the organization’s culture and reputation.

Do you have a leader in your organization who:

  • Is known for losing their cool times, blames or demeans people publicly when things go wrong?

  • Is passive aggressive, sending mixed signals about the quality of their work and avoids providing direct and honest feedback?

  • Is unavailable much of the time, leaving their team to “fend for themselves” without critical information, data, and direction to do their jobs well?

  • Is overly controlling, a micro-manager, and therefore slows down project completion and leaves staff feeling disempowered.

  • Takes all the credit for the team’s accomplishments, perhaps because they fear their staff will outshine them and are a threat their status.

  • Creates unnecessary urgency around task completion that infringes on staff’s personal time.

Coaching For Your

Leaders Specific Needs

Patty is uniquely skilled in earning the trust of even the most challenging or cynical leaders with lower EQ, in addition to working with highly motivated, high EQ leaders who want to rise to higher levels within a company. Through years of providing both traditional classroom leadership training and personalized 1:1 coaching and mentoring, Patty has concluded that the most effective way to “move the needle” with difficult leaders is through 1:1 coaching that incorporates some of the core content taught in leadership classes. She therefore leads her clients through a process and approach that is highly customized and includes many of the following activities:

  • Design their own personal leadership brand through self-reflection and gaining clarity on the type of leader they wish to be known as.

  • Teach core skills like giving feedback using models like Radical Candor, SBI (Situation-Behavior-Impact), The Sandwich Technique, and DESC (Describe- Express-Specify-Consequences)

  • Assess one’s current level of Emotional Intelligence and co-create a plan to make incremental progress in each area.

  • Reveal blind spots related to how they may be unknowingly sabotaging relationships with others via a Positive Intelligence assessment and subsequently applying the concepts in the Mental Fitness model. Other options could include conducting a 360 review to obtain comprehensive and specific feedback from others.

  • Identify habits that interfere with success and replace them with habits that serve them better.

  • Examine their self-care routines and stress management techniques and design strategies that are even more effective.
